Windows Media Player 11 – Navigating the Player


Windows Media Player 11 has been upgraded to have more features, not to mention the design; intuitive buttons, controls and menus which makes the user easier to use and enjoy listening to music and watching videos. Also, this lessens the time in managing music, videos and photos at the same time take advantage of the time enjoying them.


Go to Start, then All Programs and choose Windows Media Player 11 to access the program.


• To navigate around the player:


• The tabs located above on the player let the user concentrate on a particular task. The tabs are Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, Sync and Media Guide consecutively. The user can switch between tabs to see which function can complete a certain task. The small inverted triangle below the tabs grants users swift access to settings and choices for the task. You can use the forward and back buttons, located at the left end of the tabs of the player.


• Having a playlist makes it easier for users to sync, play or burn songs and videos. To do this, the user must create a playlist in the List pane containing his or her choice of music or video like a listing of songs the user wants to burn. If the user accidentally adds an unwanted song to the list, it can be removed. Also, the List pane can be shown or hidden by going to Now Playing tab, click the inverted triangle below Now Playing and click the first option shown.


• The user can browse by clicking the button with the music icon to change categories like Video, Music or Pictures and after that in the Navigation pane choose a view of that category. The user will find it easy to browse because of its organized view.


• Using the search function will automatically find what the user is looking for. This search function of the Player is useful especially when there is a vast collection of music or videos. As the user types in the search bar, the Player displays the information about the entry that matches the search.


• The Classic Menus can be shown by right-clicking on an empty area for example in between the Now Playing and Library tab, and then select Show Classic Menus.


• Searching for Online Stores is possible in Windows Media Player 11. The online store is useful in purchasing a wide range of videos, music, audio books, etc. To access, simply click the inverted triangle below Online Stores then select Browse all Online Stores.


• The user can listen to online radio by clicking on the inverted triangle below Online Stores, select Media Guide and then choose the link Radio.
